Bio
Nevzat Güneri Gençer received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bosphorus University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1985, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 1988 and 1993, respectively.
From 1987 to 1994, he was a Teaching Assistant and Instructor with Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, METU. During 1994-1995, he was a Postdoctoral with the Neuromagnetism Laboratory of Physics Department, New York University, New York City, NY, USA, where he became a Research Assistant Professor later. In 1996, he joined as an Assistant Professor the Electrical and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, METU, where he has been a Full Professor since 2003. His research interests include electronic instrumentation, mathematical and computational aspects of medical imaging, and application of numerical electromagnetics to biomedical problems.
He was the National Coordinator and Management Committee Member of the COST Actions BM0601 (NEUROMATH), TD1301 (MiMed), and BM1309 (EMF-MED). He is the Coordinator of METU Bioelectromagnetism Research Group, that focuses on innovative medical imaging modalities entitled as Lorentz Force Electrical Impedance Tomography, Harmonic Motion Microwave Doppler Imaging, and Electro-Thermal Imaging. He was the recipient of the the Research Incentive Award presented by Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation in 1999, the Research Incentive Award from the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council in 2003, and the James Edward Zimmerman Award from the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2010.
