个人简介
Graduate in Biology, Marine specialty (2004) at the University of La Laguna (ULL); Ph.D. in Biology (2016) at Cologne University (UC); Master in Sustainable Management of Marine and Coastal Systems (2006) University of Cadiz. Obtained the Researcher competence in Botany at the Department of Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology, and the M.Sc (2008) at the ULL with the master thesis: Vegetative and reproductive morphology of Pterocladiella melanoidea (Gelidiales, Rhodophyta) in the Canary Islands. I started MY scientific research training at several national or international groups (ULL, ULGPC, ITER, Cologne University, BEA, etc.). In 2011 I became a Ph.D. student at the UC, obtaining my Ph.D. in Biology, with the entitled dissertation: Biodiversity of epiphyllous, heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria in the laurel forest of the Canary Islands (written and defended in English) supervised by Prof.Dr. Michael Melkonian obtained a Magna Cum Laude grade. Among others, I had worked at the Department of Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology as Associate Researcher of the ULL, and at the Spanish Bank of Algae at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), where I could be specialized in algae bioprospection, isolation techniques, maintenance and cultivation of microalgae. Obtained several Venia Docendi, plus some teaching assignment to teach at Bachelor and Master's degree at the ULL and ULPGC. I had conducted national and international courses and seminars on marine biology; algae phylogeny, isolation and algae culture techniques, microalgae, cyanobacteria systematics, molecular biology, and biostatistics techniques. Besides, I had organized and been an instructor in 2 international courses on training called from natural samples to axenic microalgae cultures, besides that she has helped in the organization of two international congresses. Including the collaboration in scientific publications and presented scientific works in several national or international congresses. Additionally, I had participated in 16 R &D projects funded by competitive applications. Present pre-doctoral stays at UC and ULPGC and post-doctoral stays at the Institute of Botany of the UC. In these 13 years working in science, I had specialized in Phycology (marine and terrestrial algae), an expert in biodiversity, phylogeny, systematics, and ecology of algae. She is involved in systematics of heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria (Nostocales), phylogeny and morphological evolution, studying their phylogenetic positions, species delineation, and investigating their correct development, life cycles and adaptations in specific environmental conditions, as is the sub-tropical forests of Macaronesia; carried out through a combination of culture, systematic biology, phylogenetic, bioinformatics and morphological techniques within and among the species. Nowadays I am working in several publications, highlighting the new diversity of genotypes (rDNA) within the Nostocales order, in the forests of the Canary Islands and the new approach of the molecular-phylogenetic analyses related to the morphological characterization for the study of these cyanobacteria. My future research aimed at the biology and evolution of the Nostocales to obtain bioactive compounds since cyanobacteria are sources of natural products with potential applications in the biopharmaceutical industry.
My aims are focus on systematics of heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria (Nostocales), phylogeny and morphological evolution, studying their phylogenetic positions, species delineation, and investigating their correct development, life cycles and adaptations in specific environmental conditions, as is the sub-tropical forests of Macaronesia; carried out through a combination of culture, systematic biology, phylogenetic, bioinformatics and morphological techniques within and among the species. Nowadays, I am working in scientific publications based on the results of my doctoral thesis, highlighting the new diversity of genotypes (rDNA) inside the Order Nostocales in the Laurel forests of the Canary Islands and also about the new approach of the molecular-phylogenetic analyses concerning their morphological characterization for the study of these cyanobacteria.
