Bio
Nayara Sabrina is a Ph.D. candidate in Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology (2020-2024) at the Federal University of Paraná (Score 7 of 7 - CAPES). She got her master’s degree in Biotechnology (2017-2019) at the Federal University of Pará (Score 5 of 7 - CAPES) and has an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences - Biology (2011-2016) from the State University of Pará. As an undergraduate student, Sabrina received a fully funded scholarship from CAPES Foundation to study at the University of Miami (2014-2015) and conduct research at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (2015-2015). She has research experience in rhizospheric and endophytic microorganisms, microbial genetics, plant genetics, plant-bacteria interaction, plant-nematode interaction, and natural products chemistry. Currently, she works validating soybean genes involved in Meloidogyne incognita resistance in model plants (Nicotiana tabacum cultivar Petit Havana). She also conducts research in soybean genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and CRISPR/dCas9 systems for phytonematode control.
