Naveed’s main research activity includes investigating the causes, prevention and management of diabetes, obesity and heart disease. He is known for his epidemiology work in diabetes, working primarily with Scottish, Swedish, English colleagues but also others around the world. He has been a key participant in relevant Emerging Risk Factor Collaborative papers as well as leading other local papers within his own group. He is also considered an expert in biomarkers with multiple papers in prestigious journals and ongoing work in seminal cohorts such as ALSPAC, or trials such as PROSPER, WOSCOPS, ADVANCE plus many others.
