Vempuluru Navakoteswara Rao, a distinguished researcher born on May 14, 1990, in Nagulapadu, Tirupati district, possesses an exceptional academic background that underscores his commitment to scientific exploration. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from Sri Venkateswara Arts College, Tirupati, affiliated with Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, in April 2011. Continuing his academic pursuit, he pursued a Master of Science in Chemistry from the same institution, completing it in April 2014. In November 2015, he broadened his intellectual horizons by acquiring a Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in physical science and mathematics methodology from Sri Krishna Devaraya University.
Dr. Rao's academic prowess became evident through his remarkable achievements in national entrance examinations. In 2014, he secured the 43rd All India Rank in chemical sciences in the Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR-UGC-NET) examination. Additionally, his exceptional performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2018) earned him an All-India rank of 3361 with a notable Gate score of 340.
Embarking on his research journey, Dr. Rao commenced his work as a Junior Research Fellow in the esteemed MNRE: YVU-CECRI Project. From March 2016 to April 2018, under the guidance of the esteemed Prof. M.V. Shankar, he passionately pursued his Ph.D. program in the Nano-Catalysis and Solar Fuels Research Laboratory. His research endeavors were centered around the development of "Hierarchical Nanocomposites Nanostructure for Enhancing the Photocatalytic H2 Generation via Water Splitting Under Solar Light Irradiation." Demonstrating his dedication and scholarly contributions, he progressed to the position of Senior Research Fellow from May 2018 to March 2019. The pinnacle of his doctoral journey was marked by his dissertation titled "Hierarchical Nanocomposites Nanostructure for Enhancing the Photocatalytic H2 Generation Water via Splitting under Solar Light Irradiation," which showcased his expertise and pioneering work in the field.
In recognition of his remarkable achievements, Dr. Rao was recently selected for the prestigious CSIR-SRF Direct in Material Chemistry at Pusa, New Delhi, India, with funding from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. Spanning from April 2019 to March 2021, this appointment further solidified his reputation as an accomplished researcher. With an impressive portfolio, he has authored 15 research publications as an author, contributed to 2 book chapters, 1 monograph book, and co-authored 30 publications. In addition, he has reviewed 20 research articles from various kinds of publishers. Dr. Rao has actively participated in international and national conferences, presenting his cutting-edge research findings. His scholarly contributions have been recognized through the receipt of two best poster presentation awards at international conferences. Of particular significance, he has been conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in recognition of his pioneering research on the development of hierarchical nanostructures for hydrogen generation using industrial waste, such as H2S and crude glycerol.
Currently, Dr. Rao holds the prestigious position of Senior Scientist under the Brain Pool program 2021 (Prestigious Post-Doctoral Fellowship) at the National Nanofab Center, Korean Advanced Research Institute of Science and Technology, located in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. His unwavering dedication and ongoing scientific contributions continue to propel the field forward, fostering scientific progress on a global scale.
