Bio
Experienced researcher in robotics and machine vision with a demonstrated history of working in the manufacturing industry and higher education. My primary research interests are in the fields of machine vision, human-robot interaction, vision-based robotic control (visual servoing), and (deep) machine learning for robotics. In particular, my research concentrates on developing image processing tools for object detection/tracking and integrating them with robust control algorithms in order to perform autonomous robotic manipulations with minimal rejection rate. So far, I have (co-)authored over two dozen high-quality research articles in major robotics/computer vision journals and conferences. In this process, I also won the best paper award from IEEE for my contributions on telemanipulation for nuclear decommissioning. Also, my recent project with KUKA has been graded "OUTSTANDING" (highest possible) by the InnovateUK (UK Technology Strategy Board).
I am driven by a purely scientific desire to solve vision-related problems, as well as the desire to see its broader impact through practical industry-driven applications. Other than research, I possess 12+ years of programming experience and supervised many PhD and masters scholars. My software application APROS3 (developed during my PhD) is one of the first nanorobotics software enabling an electron microscope to be used for automatic robotic applications.
