Nancy Pleshko received the B.S. degree in chemistry from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1985, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Rutgers University, Newark, NJ, USA, in 1988 and 1991, respectively. She is currently a Professor with the Department of Bioengineering, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, and the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, School of Medicine. Her research focuses on assessment of tissues at the molecular, cellular, and structural level through application of optical spectroscopy, including mid- and near-infrared spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging, in concert with complementary techniques. She has a long-standing interest in translational research in tissue pathophysiology and degradation and repair problems in food, pharmaceutical, and biological tissue samples.
