Bio
As a Full Professor of Chemistry, I currently serve as the leader of the Sensors and Biosensors Group and head the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at the esteemed University of Tunis El Manar in Tunis, Tunisia. My primary research interests revolve around the design and utilization of electrochemical- and optical-active nanomaterials. I am dedicated to leveraging these materials to develop innovative electrochemical and optical (bio)sensing platforms with applications in healthcare, food safety, and environmental monitoring.
My contributions to the field include the publication of over 100 papers, which delve into various aspects of nanomaterial-based sensing. Additionally, I have patented a number of nanodevices specifically designed for the detection of disease biomarkers and the monitoring of food contaminants.
Currently, I am leading a national federated project (PRF2017-D4P1) that involves collaboration with six partners from the fields of biology, virology, and chemistry. Our collective goal is to develop groundbreaking sensing bioplatforms to address various challenges related to cancer diagnostics, as well as the detection of bacteria and viruses in cattle and fish.
Furthermore, I am actively involved in coordinating and participating in consortia focused on designing novel electrochemical and optical sensing tools for the identification and analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
