Bio
Nelly Saenen is doctor-assistant in the research group Biodiversity & Toxicology at the UHasselt Centre for Environmental Sciences (CMK), and supports the Environmental & Molecular Epidemiology research within CMK. Her research interests are focused within an interdisciplinary setting of Epidemiology and Toxicology to explore “Environment and Health”-related topics. More specifically, her current research focuses on the effect of micro/nanoplastics on human health.
In total, Nelly contributed to 36 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals such as American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Environmental Health Perspectives, and Environment International and has been awarded 5 prizes for her research on molecular mechanisms underlying particulate matter exposure in early life.
