Research Description
Research interests lie in the area of the molecular biology of plant and human viruses. Development of “”transgenic”” plants resistant to viruses: mechanisms of resistance. Genome organization, self-splicing (Ribozyme) and replication strategies of some viruses and their satellite RNAs. Development of recombinant vaccines produced in plants. Plant antiviral proteins for gene therapy of AIDS. Molecular mechanisms involved in the translation in Pro- and Eukaryotes: alternative modes of initiation of translation. Development of vaccines (e.g. HCV).
