Bio
Soo-Hyung Kim is a plant ecophysiologist who examines how plants respond to their environment at a variety of scales—from the level of the leaf, to an individual plant, to a canopy, and to the ecosystem as a whole. He works with cultivated plants, approaching his questions through a mix of controlled experiments and modeling. To that end, he studies how plants function, as well as how to aid plant performance and production through the mitigation of both biotic and abiotic stressors. And he looks for ways to inform sensible adaptive management solutions through the development of crop models, which can predict ways to improve crop performance and yields while minimizing the environmental impacts of agriculture.
