Bio
Professor at the Department of Psychiatric Genetics (Poznan University of Medical Sciences) and head of the Laboratory of Genomics and Transcriptomics inPsychiatry. A laboratory diagnostician and specialist in medical laboratory genetics. Since 1999 I have been taking part in the genetic research, conducted at the Department of Psychiatric Genetics of the Psychiatry Department, on searching for candidate genes and their polymorphic variants involved in creating predispositions to mental disorders. Primarily I am interested in the biological background of the pathogenesis of eating disorders– mainly anorexia nervosa, which so far has been the leading subject of my scientific work. Within my interests, there is also pharmacogenetics - the relationship between polymorphisms in candidate genes and their influence on drug response for example to lithium prophylaxis in bipolar disorder patients. I expanded my range of interests with the issues of biological markers (endophenotypes) that could be a useful tool in predicting development and diagnostics of a disease. My current research interests include genetics background of psychiatric disorders especially with disturbances of circadian rhythms and neurodevelopmental components. I participated in the implementation of over 20 scientific projects, in three of them as a principal. I am the author of more than 130 scientific publications.
