Currently as university professor I am teaching entomology and zoology courses at undergraduate and graduate levels on the following topics: basic and applied entomology (insect physiology, IPM, biological control, taxonomy, insect evolution and phylogenetic, external/internal insect morphology, principles of insect pest management and other detrimental animals to plant production with prevention and control), also computational biology applied to entomology, bioinformatics and molecular modeling.
My particular field of interest since the beginning of my still recent PhD (2008-2011) has been focused on agrochemicals for crop protection and side-effects of pesticides on non-target organisms. I also interested in Biological Control of Pest insects and tritrophic interactions and insect behavior.
For that our team have used different levels of investigation and a wide set of multidisciplinary strategies including cheminformatics, molecular biology, cell-based screening systems, cell biotechnology, CADD, QSAR, bioinformatics and protein molecular modeling. All these tools/strategies have been applied for discovery, design and improve putative new pest control agents as well as to investigate the mechanisms of drug action.
Although, the classical crop protection research has outcome most of the current methods helping growers to protect their crops from pest-insects, fungal pathogens, weeds and other organisms, on last decade, the increasingly stringent regulatory environment, as well as market growth has stimulated demand for more selective, safer and cost-effectively agro(chemicals). Indeed, a steady stream of new strategies and agrochemicals are essential to manage pests effectively in future. Despite of the ever-growing strict rules that potentially squeeze several of currently available crop protection agents, still there exists a gap in both, academia and industry, for innovative promising ideas to improve the quality, yield stability and sustainability of the world's food supply.
During my short career I have gained experience in scientific management, research supply management's, grants, fundings, project design and leadership.
