Bio
Mohamed Mounir Abdin (Student Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from AAST, Cairo, Egypt in 2010, and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from University of South Florida (USF), Tampa, FL, USA, in 2015, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, co-advised by Dr. Thomas Weller at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, USA, and Dr. Jing Wang at USF.
Prior to joining USF, he worked as a Process Engineer at Innovative Micro Technology (IMT), a MEMS foundry, Santa Barbara, CA, USA, and has since interned at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); L3Harris Technologies, Melbourne, FL, USA; and Qorvo, Chelmsford, MA, USA. He is currently a Research Electronics Engineer at the Microwave Instruments Branch, NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD, USA. His research interests include millimeter-wave circuit design using additive manufacturing and 3-D printing packaging techniques to facilitate the widespread adoption of 5G technologies. His research focuses on RF electronics, system-level design, interconnect, and packaging.
Mr. Abdin was a recipient of the 2018 IEEE MTT-S Graduate Fellowship and the 2019 USF Dissertation Completion Fellowship for his work on demonstrating a highly integrated 75–110-GHz (W-band) communication system using 3-D printing.
