Bio
Mohamed M. A. Soliman got his BSc in 2006 and his MS degree in 2013 in Chemistry from Faculty of Science, Aswan university (Egypt). Between 2013 and 2016 he worked as an independent/external researcher and joined the research centre (LAQV-REQUIMTE) in FCUP (Faculty of Science, Porto university) under the supervision of Prof. Ana Cristina Freire. In 2016 he was awarded a PhD grant by the CATSUS (Catalysis and Sustainability) FCT PhD program and worked at the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa. In July 2020, he got his PhD degree with excellent mark (Pass with Distinction and Honour) from IST. Recently, he is a Researcher (Integrated Member) at the Centro Qímica Estrutural (Coordination Chemistry and Catalysis (CCC) Group), Instituto Superior Técnico. He published 12 scientific papers (first author in 5 and co-author of the other 7) in international journals of materials science and catalysis and presented various communications (9 oral and 13 posters). He has been involved in the organizing committees of 3 international scientific events. He was/is a team member in the research project / Stimuli-Responsive Recyclable Catalytic Systems/ (2019-2020 - IPL/2019/STREAM_ISEL), EXPL/QUI-QOR/1079/2021 and IPL/2021/ WASTE4CAT_ISEL. MS is recently an Topical Advisory Panel Member in the “Nanostructured Catalysts” section and was a guest editor of Catalysts Journal for the Special Issue "Metallic Nanoparticles and Metal-Mediated Synthesis in Catalysis". His main scientific interests are: design of environmental nanocatalysts using natural materials and industrial by-products, characterization of nanomaterials (silica nanoparticles, carbon-based nanomaterials, magnetic nanoparticles, zinc oxide, iron composites), mechanochemistry for the preparation of new materials under solvent-free conditions and their catalytic performance in several important chemical reactions with industrial impact, green biosynthesis, eco-sustainable catalysis, economic valorization and sustainable and cost-effective manufacturing processes, biodiesel, biofuel additives.
