Bio
Dr. rer. nat. Mohamed Ahmed Sherif (Male) is a senior researcher at the Data Science research group (DICE), Paderborn University, Germany. Dr. Sherif attained his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Suez Canal University (Egypt), then his M.Sc. of Informatics from Menoufia University (Egypt). Dr. Sherif was then awarded a scholarship from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for fulfilling his Ph.D. degree at Leipzig University, where he obtained his PhD degree by the end of 2016. Dr. Sherif worked as a researcher at the Leipzig University as well as at the Institute for Applied Informatics (InfAI) before he moved to his current position at Paderborn University within the data science group (DICE). Within the last five years in Paderborn university, Dr. Sherif led the Data Integration sub-research group within DICE. Dr. Sherif worked on several EU projects such as Slipo, Sage, and GeoKnow. Apart from having experience in software engineering and programming, Dr. Sherif also co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications. Currently, he is leading the DICE research work within the DFG project Ingrid as well as the Climate bOWL project. In addition to supervising M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, Dr. Sherif is actively taking part in teaching number of bachelor and master courses such as Databases and Statistical Natural Language Processing. He also mentors master students seminars that focus on the recent advances in knowledge graphs, natural language processing and scientific writing. Dr. Sherif’s research interests focus primarily on using machine learning in aspects related to social network analysis, data engineering and knowledge graph integration.
