Dr. Kalin’s areas of research are wear and friction mechanisms of advanced materials, nanoscale interface phenomena, as well as boundary lubrication and films for green lubrication technologies. He has published about 145 peer-reviewed journal papers, 13 book chapters, 1 book and 12 patents. His H-index is 27 with about 2.100 citations. He has over 350 conference contributions, including 46 invited talks world-wide, of which 6 keynote talks. In his career he has led over 36 larger, typically three-year projects (Project coordinator or Group leader), mostly international, working with companies like Volvo, Bekaert, Sorevi, Sulzer, SKF, Mercedes, Total, Lubrizol, Atlas Copco, Oerlikon, Dow, etc. to mention some of the most renown. Moreover, he led numerous smaller industrial projects, there are over 150 such reports registered. He is currently a coordinator of EU EACEA Erasmus Mundus Joint European Master Study in Tribology – TRIBOS+, funded by EU, which is a continuation of previous 5-year TRIBOS project.
