Bio
Ms. Das serves as an advisor in the Office of the Chief Economist of the IMF, providing intellectual input on issues of global economic significance. Ms. Das is Head of the IMF's Global Tail Risks work, tasked with identifying climatic, technological and economic tail risks to environmental quality, social unrest and financial stability; strategic and reputational risks to the IMF; assessing their impacts; and articulating mitigating actions to the Managing Director of the IMF. Since 2019, she has served as the IMF Mission Chief of Nauru.
Prior to joining the IMF, Ms. Das held academic positions at Columbia University (1998-2005), Harvard University (2001-2002), Dartmouth College (2005-2006) and the University of California Davis (2007-09). Her research interests are in Climate Finance, International Economics, Open-economy Macroeconomics, Development Economics, and Automation and its impact on employment. Ms. Das received her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T).
