Bio
Min Tang mainly focus on in-situ electron microscopy and high resolution electron microscopy. She uses in situ S/TEM (ETEM; ESTEM; gas cell holder) with high spatial and temporal resolution combined with online mass spectrometry to study catalysts under real reaction conditions. The aim is to use new developed techniques to study the fundamental mechanisms and some issues in catalysis. For example, some works about the thermodynamic stability of Pd-Pt and Pd-Au core-shell particles and how it affects the activity of catalysts have been done. She also studied the strong metal-support interactions (SMSI) in Pd-TiO2 system. It was the first time to find the facet-dependent oxidative SMSI. Another interesting work is using in situ TEM combined with online mass spectrometry to investigate the dynamic behaviors of Pd nanoparticles directly during the oscillation of methane oxidation at multi scales. The oscillations of temperature, gas pressure, and the shape and composition of the Pd nanoparticles were acquired simultaneously. The intrinsic driving force of the oscillation for methane oxidation was proposed. At present, she is working on two projects, one is studying the Pt promoting effects on the reduction of supported non-noble metal catalysts using in situ gas system (gas cell holder and TEM), and another one is acquiring atomic resolution images for zeolite by using iDPC-STEM.
