Bio
Dr. Mihail “Misha” Zilbermint is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is the Chair of Department of Medicine, Chief and Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD.
After completing endocrinology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, he established Endocrine Hospitalist and Inpatient Diabetes Management Service at Suburban Hospital, a specialized clinical consultation program designed to promote better glycemic control in hospitalized patients. This initiative helped save his hospital hundreds of thousands of dollars by reducing the length of stay of patients with diabetes. His specialized diabetes team won the Johns Hopkins Innovations in Clinical Care Award in 2017.
Dr. Zilbermint's research interests include diabetes initiatives, hypoglycemia reduction, genetic causes of hypertension, primary aldosteronism, rare adrenal tumors and interconnections between diabetes and climate change.
Dr. Zilbermint was one of the first to deploy inpatient diabetes telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is a passionate educator and teaches endocrinology fellows, hospitalists, pharmacy residents, and nurse practitioners. Dr. Zilbermint is currently perusing Masters in Business Administration at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School with the goal of developing high-quality hospital-based endocrine practices.
