Mihail Popescu (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in Nuclear picture containing wall, person, indoor description automatically generated engineering from the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute, Bucharest, Romania, in 1987, and the M.S. degree in medical physics, the M.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering and computer science from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, USA, in 1995, 1997, and 2003, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Health Management and Informatics, an Adjunct Associate Professor of nursing, and an Adjunct Associate Professor of electrical and computer engineering with the University of Missouri. His research interests include intelligent medical system design and medical data processing. His current research interests include developing decision support systems for early illness recognition in elderly and investigating sensor data summarization and visualization methodologies. He has authored or coauthored more than 200 technical publications. Dr. Popescu was the recipient of the IEEE Franklin V. Taylor Award of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, in 2011.
