个人简介
I am a physician scientist with a research focus on the neurocognitive determinants of human eating behavior, obesity and nutrition. This interdisciplinary area is relevant to understand healthy eating and develop new therapies for obesity and type-2 diabetes. Over the past 15 years, I have received extensive training in basic, applied and clinical neuroscience, including a four-year neurology residency program, two masters and a PhD. I am also a graduate of the competitive Clinical Investigation Training Program from Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technologies. My experimental approach includes the integration of methodologies across the disciplines of neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience and ingestive behavior. My research also includes the development and use of computerized neuropsychological tests, functional neuroimaging, and laboratory studies on human eating behavior with novel approaches that include capabilities for intra-meal neurocognitive evaluation. I have recently implemented eye-tracking during a buffet meal, offering new possibilities to study determinants of eating behavior and food choice and, particularly, attentional biases toward food. I also have broad expertise in neuromodulation techniques, from clinical and research perspectives, including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). During 2006-2014 I served as regular teaching faculty at a Harvard Intensive Course in TMS. I have also conducted pioneering computational modeling work and clinical studies with tDCS targeted to the prefrontal cortex in obesity. More broadly, I have 10+ years of experience conducting human subject research, during which I have been actively involved in the design, implementation, coordination and leadership of translational and clinical research studies related to neurocognition, neuromodulation and eating behavior.
