Bio
Since November 2001 he has been employed as PhDstudent under the supervision of Prof.Donato Malerba at the Department of Informatics, University ofBari. He defended his Ph.D. Thesis in 2004.
Since 2005 he has been employed as assistantprofessor at the Department of Informatics, University of Bari wherehe teaches in the courses of Programming Languages,Anvanced Computer Programming Methods e DataBases and Laboratory.
During the period November 2003 March2004 he collaborated as research student with the MachineLearning Research Group headed by prof. PeterFlach of the Department of Computer Science, University ofBristol (U.K.)
His main research is in Knowledge Discovery from Databases primarily in thedevelopment of Data Mining algorithms for predictive tasks(classification and regression). In particular, he studies algorithmsfor the induction of statistical classifiers and model trees.Theoretical foundations of his research are in statistics and inlogic. Adopted technologies include Database technologies (Databaselanguages, indexing), multimedia technologies (images and textindexing, spatial data) and Internet (XML). Research applicationsinclude document analysis and understanding, map interpretation,web-documents classification.
