Bio
Michael R. Carhart (M'93) was born in LaCrosse, WI, in 1969. He received the B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in bioengineering from Arizona State University (ASU), Tempe, in 2000.
He worked as an Assistant Research Scientist with the Harrington Department of Bioengineering, ASU from 2000 to 2003, and served as President of Forensic Dynamics, LLC. He is currently a Managing Engineer with Exponent Failure Analysis Associates in Phoenix, AZ and an Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at ASU. His research activities involve the biomechanics of normal and pathological posture and gait, and the development and use of dynamic models of the human body for the analysis of movement, internal forces, and injuries. His research interests also include rehabilitation engineering approaches to the recovery of standing and walking following spinal cord injury.
Dr. Carhart is member of the International Society of Biomechanics, the Society of Automotive Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Kappa Phi.
