个人简介
Miao's research experiences in Life Sciences and Chemical Engineering has enabled her to consolidate cross-disciplinary strengths at the interface of Engineering and Natural Sciences with a particular focus on biorenewable manufacturing.
In collaboration with international academics and industrial pioneers, Miao has been leading the frontier research to couple new modelling approaches with lab experiments to optimise resource-circular bio-renewable manufacturing. Such research efforts have been supported by the EPSRC, Research England GCRF and industry with a total grant income of over £900K. Her recent research in collaboration with Quorn on resource-circular manufacturing of Mycoprotein with waste recovery was final shortlisted for the 2019 EI award.
Miao has delivered many seminars and conference contributions abroad, including on the theme "From feeding people to nourishing people" at the eighth Frontier of Engineering for Development Symposium hosted at Madagascar in 2019 by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Miao is also active in public engagement activities, including workshop organisation and her 2019 research showcase at Great Exhibition Road Festival.
Research Interests
Mathematical modelling and biorenewable system optimisation
Biorenewable process simulation and optimisation
Technology development for bio-waste recovery
Bio-manufacturing and supply chains
Life cycle sustainability assessment
