Bio
Melissa Alvarado-Velez received the B.S. degree in industrial biotechnology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She is a graduate student in the Biomedical Engineering joint program between the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA and Emory University, Atlanta.
Along her academic career, she has received various recognitions including the Goizueta Foundation Fellowship and the President's Fellowship award from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research interests include the development of biomaterials that enhance stem cell therapy for traumatic brain injury or other neurodegenerative diseases.
