个人简介
Since starting on a marine science career, my interest for the environmental quality assessment of aquatic systems has grown greatly. I define myself as an open-minded researcher, seeking innovative ways to accurately explore ecosystem status and assess anthropogenic impacts on highly vulnerable aquatic systems. Considering the fact that decreasing environmental quality also leads to significant economic and social consequences, a better assessment of contaminant levels and there biogeochemical cycles is mandatory. This is particularly the case for emerging contaminants, which are part of my main scientific interests. My scientific achievements include the organisation and participation to numerous field works, the implementation of ecotoxicological experiments, the application and optimisation of challenging analytical methods, as well as, the participation to ambitious projects working towards European priority missions.
I have been graduated from a European Doctorate in Geochemistry and Ecotoxicology based on my research on “Platinum biogeochemical cycles in coastal environments”. This study responds to the recommendations made by the European COST Action NOTICE addressing the need for more knowledge and understanding on Technology Critical Elements (TCEs) environmental levels, fate, and potential (eco)toxicological impacts. I have been funded by the European Union 7th Framework Program SCHeMA Project. Involving nine partners from six different countries, this project aims at providing an open and modular sensing solution for accurate in situ high resolution monitoring of European coastal water quality. I have been contracted by the University of Geneva as a Post-doctoral Researcher working on the MEPHY Project. This innovative project aimed at applying novel sensing tools to study the interactions between trace metals and phytoplankton. I am now working at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) as a Junior Researcher under FCT Individual Contract, working on emerging contamination in the Douro Estuary.
Skills: AdCSV, ID-ICP-MS, speciation analyses HG-FIAS, spectrophotometry, TOC analyser, LECO, analytical method development applied to trace metal quantification.
Field campaign organisation, sampling, data treatment, oral and written scientific communications / project deliverables, demonstration, dissemination and outreach activities.
