个人简介
Meghan M. Dierks received the A.B. degree in biology and biomedical ethics from Brown University, Providence, RI, in 1984 and the M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, in 1989.
She is a General Surgeon who trained at Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA. She completed National Institute of Health training fellowships in medical informatics and molecular genetics and pursued graduate work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge. While at MIT, she studied informatics, risk analysis, human factors, and systems analysis. She is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and a Researcher in the Clinical Decision-Making Group, MIT. She is also a member of the Department of Healthcare Quality, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and a faculty member at the Center for Medical Simulation, Cambridge, MA. Her research in recent years has focused specifically on the following areas: knowledge representation in clinical domains to support computerized decision analysis, simulation, clinical resource planning/logistics, and decision-aiding and alerting applications; the impact of technology and information load on human performance in clinical settings (ICU and OR): the role of intelligent monitoring, consolidated information displays and improved alarm heuristics; systems analysis in complex clinical settings with focus on information access, information complexity and human-machine interfaces to reduce risk and improve performance; assessing skill acquisition, skill maintenance, skill degradation, human supervisory control of automated systems and adaptability to new technologies and instrumentation in the surgical domain; risk analysis and probabilistic modeling of medical adverse events and errors as a function of resources/scheduling and facility configurations.
Prof. Dierks is a member of the Medical Systems Group of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the American Society for Medical Simulation.
