Bio
Maxim Shatalov (M'01) received the M.Sc. degree in optoelectronics from St. Petersburg Electrical-Technical University, St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from A. F. Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. His Ph.D. research was devoted to the experimental study and simulations of high-speed semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers for dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) systems.
He is with the University of South Carolina as a Research Associate since 1999, and as a research assistant professor since 2001. His current research focus is the physics of nitride based deep ultraviolet light emitters, characterization of light-emitting diodes and lasers, and packaging of high-power optoelectronic devices. His has authored and co-authored about 20 papers in refered journals.
