Bio
I am a Scientist at Krembil Research Institute (Toronto, Canada) where I lead the Neuron-Glia Interactions Lab (NGILab). I also am an External Scientific Member at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM, Bilbao, Spain) and principal investigator of the H2020 ASTROTECH Consortium. I hold a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Pisa (Italy) and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University (Rehovot, Israel). I pursued my postdoctoral training at the Department of Neurobiology of the University of Chicago (USA) as well as INRIA (Lyon, France). My research is in the field of computational neuroscience and focuses on studying neuron-glia interactions. My expertise is on neuron-glial interactions in the healthy and diseased brain. I use multi-disciplinary approaches at the crossroads of Physics and Computer Science, and collaborate with biologists, engineers, and medical doctors, to harness the complexity of neuron-glial signaling, from the subcellular realm to the Systems' levels.
