My ongoing research is focussed on marine and terrestrial paleoclimate archives of the Quaternary. Paleoceanographic records that can be derived from cold-water corals and deep-sea sediments have attracted my attention. Their investigation encompasses isotopegeochemistry of Recent specimens from varying environmental conditions to establish new isotope and trace element proxies. Their application in fossil corals requires geochronological methods, like U-series and radiocarbon dating.
