A back-office technologist by nature (and computational oceanographer by training) I have worked for many years at the intersection of information technology and research in both academic and commercial environments, largely in biomedical research. Having spent the bulk of my career among the genomic scientific computing elite, however, I am surprised to find that I am really much more of a commoner, or, more specifically, a data commoner.
