Matthew S Schechter

I am an aspiring computational biologist with specific interests in microbiomes, (meta)genomics, machine learning, and data analysis. Currently, my research focuses on exploring the ecology of marine microbes in the global surface ocean and characterizing the genetics of polysaccharide-producing genes in prominent human gut microbes. My research background and training span both academia and industry in the fields of microbial ecology and sustainable food biotechnology.
