Bio
My career ambition is to advance our understanding of the biology of the eye, and specifically diseases which pose a dire threat to the health and longevity of our vision. Though I have always maintained a broad interest in retinal cell biology and vision-related disorders, my current interest lies with uncovering the mechanisms that lie at the heart of AMD. I have endeavoured in harnessing this knowledge to drive innovation leading to more viable treatments for this terrible disease. During my PhD (2008-2011) and postdoctoral training, I have garnered an expert knowledge-base in neuroinflammation and its relationship to retinal disease, and techniques in molecular cell biology, flow cytometry, and bioinformatics.
