Career Trajectory
Bio
Allen Mathew completed his MSc in Physics from Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai, India. His masters project was to prepare rare-earth doped Sodium Bismuth Silicate glasses and study their optical properties.
In 2018, he received his PhD in Physics from Université du Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO), Dunkerque, France. His work was to design, build and optimise a cryogenic photo-pyroelectric instrument to study the glass transition properties of cryoprotectants. He also performed viscosity and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) studies on cryoprotectants.
After his PhD, he worked at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Brussels, Belgium as a post doctoral researcher. At ULB, he designed and built a multiple-probe dielectric spectroscopy instrument. Glass transition properties, ageing, confinement effect and irreversible adsorption of polymers were studied during this project.
Currently, he is working at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland as a research engineer. His project is in microfluidics instrumentation and nanomedicine formulation/optimisation.
