Bio
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matevž Pogačnik holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. He is the deputy head of the Laboratory of multimedia at the Faculty of electrical engineering, University of Ljubljana. His research, scientific, and project work are focused on the development of interactive multimedia services with an emphasis on user-centered design, accessibility, and extended reality technologies. He has participated in numerous research and industrial projects leading the development of innovative user interfaces and applications for mobile devices, VR/AR devices, smart TVs, and STBs. In the past few years, he is focused on the accessibility aspects of interactive solutions, including the development of sign language avatars. Together with his team, he is also involved in the design and integration of camera setups and hybrid videoconferencing solutions for lectures and meetups. Additionally, he participated in research projects from the Smart cities domain, supervising the design of user-friendly IoT-based services. He is a custodian of the multimedia study program at the Faculty of electrical engineering and the co-author of more than 130 scientific and research papers. He is an active member of the IEEE organization.
