Career Trajectory
Bio
Massimo Pancione received his B.A. degree in biochemistry from University of Naples, Federico II, Italy and its PhD degree from University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy. He worked on the human promoter of the retinol binding protein as undergraduate student with Prof. Vittorio Colantuoni in Naples. Next, he completed a research training at National Research Council, Avellino, Italy and the Spanish National Cancer Research Center, Madrid, Spain working on a mice models of intestinal disease and cancer. He is currently a Researcher of Molecular Biology and heads the laboratory of Molecular Oncology and Signal Transduction at Department of Science and Technology, University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy. In the last years, his research has focused on understanding the molecular basis of cell division in health and cancer. A major interest is the study of the centrosome linker proteins in health and diseases. These latter studies are beginning to shed light on the molecular basis of mitotic errors in extremely in human genetic disorders. The translational impact of novel therapeutic targets as well as molecules for the treatment of several cancers including colorectal is one of the main aims of the laboratory.
