Massimo Cosi received the B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, in 1984.
He has been with Selex Galileo, Florence, Italy, since 1984, where he is currently an Electronic System Engineer and System Manager. Since then, he has been involved as an Engineer for the development of optomechanical control of tank gun and automatic test equipment for optomechanical control. Since 1989, he has been in charge of the Selex Galileo Space Division as an AIV Engineer of the ASP Experiment (NASA-ESA program) flown on Space Shuttle in 1992; He was Project Manager and System Engineer of the HASI Experiment for the ESA-HUYGENS Program (ESA/ASI Program); Project Leader and System Engineer of the FAST Facility flown on the Space Shuttle in 1998 (STS-95) for the Microgravity ESA Program; Project Manager and System Engineer of the GIADA Experiment for the ESA-ROSETTA Program (ESA/ASI Program); Electrical System Engineer of the Italian payloads (located in DeeDri and IPSE) for the MARS mission for the JPL/NASA mission 2003/2005; Technical Manager of the FAST Facility reflight on the Space Shuttle in 2003 for the Microgravity ESA Program; and Electrical System Engineer of the HypSEO-MITA mission study for the ASI-HypSEO program. In the frame of the HypSEO program, he acts as Interface Manager between flight and ground segments; Program Manager of ASI and Astrium contracts for ROSETTA phase E support; System Manager of the VIRTIS Experiment for the ESA-VEX mission; Program Manager of the Astrium contract for the VIRTIS Experiment for the ESA-VEX mission; and System Engineer of the Sistema Iperspettrale Multisensoriale di Galileo Avionica system (SIM.GA) for the manned and unmanned aircraft mission.
