His research experiences include prebreakdown phenomena of pulsed discharge under water, the production of ultrauniformly sized particles and nanosized particles electrostatically by gas–liquid or liquid–liquid dispersion, the application of pulsed electric field to the sterilization of liquid foods, and animal cell cultivation at the liquid–liquid interface. One of his main interests is the application of plasma in/with water to environmental water remediation.,Dr. Sato was the recipient of the Masuda Award of the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society in 2009 and a corecipient of the 1987 Third Best Paper Award in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications.
