Mary R. Keller

Mary R. Keller (Member, IEEE) was born in Independence, MO, USA, in 1960. She received the B.S. (summa cum laude) and M.S. degrees in geophysics from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 1982 and 1983, respectively. She was employed as a Contractor to the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Washington, D.C., USA, from 1983 to 1985. In 1985, she became a Physical Scientist at NRL, working in both the Passive and Active Microwave Sections, Remote Sensing Division until 1998. From 1998 to 2000, she was a General Physical Scientist at the Naval/National Ice Center, Suitland, MD, USA. In 2000, she moved to The Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), Laurel, MD, joining the Ocean Remote Sensing Group of the Space Department in 2004. She is a Remote Sensing Scientist with Geospace and Earth Science Group, Space Exploration Sector, JHU/APL. She has authored numerous publications and holds two patents. Her research interests include active and passive microwave remote sensing of the cryosphere, the oceans, terrestrial surfaces, and planetary regolith, modeling of atmospheric aerosols, and hyperspectral imaging of aquatic environments and planetary surfaces. Ms. Keller is a member of the American Geophysical Union, the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, and the American Meteorological Society.
