Martin A. Trefzer received honours degree in physics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and from the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, and the PhD degree in physics from the Kirchhoff-Institute for Physics, University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he was working on the evolution of transistor circuits using a custom designed CMOS FPTA. After his PhD he started working on artificial developmental hardware systems as a research associate in the Department of Electronics, University of York, United Kingdom. He is now a lecturer in the Department of Electronics, University of York, United Kingdom. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
