个人简介
Dr. Martin Schlerf received his Ph.D. degree in Remote Sensing at the University of Trier, Germany, an MSc degree in Geography from Justus-Liebig University Giessen, Germany, and a Master in Geoinformation Science (ITC Enschede). Since 2015 he has been working as a Senior R&T Associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). Before he held positions as Assistant Professor in Earth Observation of Natural Resources at the University of Twente, The Netherlands, as Project Leader in Remote Sensing at the Public Research Centre Gabriel Lippmann, Luxemburg, and as Researcher at Trier University. He is active in research in hyperspectral and thermal remote sensing of vegetated and non-vegetated surface properties with a focus on the retrieval of biophysical and biochemical vegetation properties at various scales and the integration of EO data into ecosystem models. Since 2003 he has published more than 80 refereed publications that in total received >5000 citations and an h-index of 35 (Google Scholar). He has reviewed for >20 international journals and is Associate Editor for the European Journal of Remote Sensing, for the journal Frontiers in Remote Sensing, and Section Board Member of the journal Remote Sensing. He has secured funding for several projects funded by FNR (CORE, INTER, AFR), ESA (Artes-20, CCI), the European Commission, and DFG. He has trained several junior scientists (12 finished Ph.D., 1 ongoing), >20 MSc). He has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at Trier University and the University of Twente in remote sensing and related topics; he has coordinated educational modules and participated in curriculum development. In 2018, the European Space Agency (ESA) appointed him as a member of the Mission Advisory Group for the CHIME mission to space. He was a national representative in the COST-Action OPTIMISE and is currently Chair of the COST-Action SENSECO. He has chaired and organized the ninth EARSEL SIG IS conference in Luxembourg, April 2015 and co-organized the Luxembourg Earth Observation Day in 2012 and 2018 and will organize the Final Conference of SENSECO in Izmir, Turkey in 2022.
