For the past 25 years Dr Martignon's work has centered upon a systematic and integrated approach in research, education and translation to general and public dental health practice in relation to cariology and dental fluorosis. Since joining King's she has represented the faculty at various international meetings such as ORCA –European Organisation for Caries Research and IADR –International Association for Dental Research; ADEE/ADEA –European/American Association of Dental Education (Boston-2015, London-2017); FDI-Federation Dentaire International (Hong Kong-2012, Istambul-2013, Buenos Aires-2018), She has participated in in-vitro, clinical, epidemiological studies; trained over 150 researchers world-wide in the ICDAS criteria and over 30 in dental fluorosis (TFI-Index). Dr Martignon teaches cariology (UEB, 1996-present) to under/postgraduates. She wrote the ‘Master in Dental Sciences’ education-document (UEB) and chaired it (2012-2016). Since 2010, she chairs the ACFF-Colombian Chapter, achieving in 2012 a consensus in cariology teaching for undergraduates, based on the European Cariology Curriculum and has been working in its adoption along universities, clinical practice, government and public health in Colombia and other countries. Her research involves developing links between UEB and King's, and other universities (University of Copenhagen, University of Leeds, Greifswald University, University of Sao Paulo, Indiana University, University of North Carolina). She has facilitated MSc/PhD links between King's and UEB. She has assembled a portfolio of research grants of over £ 445,000 and has 44 peer-reviewed publications to date. She has supervised 6 MSc-, over 20 specialisation-programme students, and co-supervised 1 PhD. She is supervising 2 PhD (UEB) and co-supervising 1 (King's and UEB) with the U. of Copenhagen. She is a ICDAS-Committee member (2005-present); IADR Colombian-Division President (2014-2018); IADR Caries-Research-Group President (2012-2013) and Board member (2013-2015); IADR-LAR Meeting Organizer (Bogotá-2015); ORCA-Board member (2010- 2014; 2018-present) and Co-president (2018-present): hosting the 2019-ORCA Congress (UEB, Cartagena-Colombia). Dr Martignon is a consultant to the Ministry of Health and the INS (National Health Institute) in Colombia.
