Research
Marta is primarily interested in data- based optimisation and control of industrial systems, focusing on the intersection between applications and theory. For her PhD on Degradation modelling in process control applications she won the 2020 IET Control & Automation Doctoral Dissertation Prize (a single award, given annually in recognition of individual excellence) and 2020 Dudley Newitt Prize for Theoretical/Computational Excellence (awarded by the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London.
At the moment, she is working on efficient control methods for large-scale systems, such as gas transport networks. Her long-term research vision is motivated by bridging the gap between academia and industry on the intersection of process system engineering, numerical optimization, control, and industrial automation.
