Bio
I am a Tenured University Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Barcelona. I am a founding member (1992) of the Intercultural Education Research Group (GREDI), consolidated by the Barcelona University and recognised by the Generalitat de Catalunya (nowadays 2017SGR298). My research career has been mainly linked to projects funded through competitive calls of public or private entities on intercultural dialogue, youth participation and the construction of an active and inclusive citizenship in formal education and in socio-educational spaces through the development of participative methodologies. These topics have constituted the priority area of the work I have coordinated as the principal investigator and researcher, since 2010, in 29 competitive projects and 8 R&D non-competitive contracts, agreements or projects with public or private entities.
Of particular note are the following projects that I have coordinated: Ministry of Education, Social Policy and Sport- European Foundation Society and Education, 2009- ECI/807/2008; InteRed Foundation, 2010-306115; Programa Estatal de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación Orientada a los retos de la sociedad- EDU2013-46704-R).
Since 2008, through projects with "la Caixa" Foundation and Diputació de Barcelona, I also coordinate and participate in research contracts (9 projects to date) focused on the participative evaluation of social programmes and projects whose empirical development constitutes another important area of specialisation in my teaching and research career over the last 10 years (see official project numbers FBG 320372; 305372; 305855; 306182; 306520).
Finally, it is worth mentioning the coordination of innovation and research projects in university teaching focused on narrative methodologies, formative research and reflective thinking (2012PID-UB/117; 2016PID-UB/028; REDICE 14-1511 and REDICE 16-1660) and the participation in related projects on teacher training and professional development, all of them competitive (2015 ARMIF 00037; 2017 ARMIF 00002; REDICE20-2861). The transfer and dissemination of the contributions and results of this research can be seen in the number of commissions received in the form of participation in conferences, postgraduate training and publications on monographic topics in their speciality on teaching and innovation at the University.
Currently, I am the co principal investigator of the project “Childhood and participation. Diagnosis and proposals for an active and inclusive citizenship in the community, institutions and governance.” (Ministry of Spain, 2019-22,RTI2018-098821-BI00) https://www.ub.edu/infanciayparticipacion/.
The research experience has been a privileged area for my methodological training, especially in qualitative research in which I have published various articles and books, being one of my main areas of university teaching. I teach in several undergraduate degrees (Pedagogy, Early Childhood Education Teacher), postgraduate degrees and Doctoral Programmes, mainly linked to methodological subjects on project development, participatory research and techniques for obtaining and analysing information. Finally, I am also a member of the Editorial and Scientific Council of several national impact journals.
