Bio
Marta Muñoz (female, PhD). PhD in Biology, postdoctoral researcher and Research Associate at the Imperial College London (ICL) (1999-2004) and currently scientific staff of the Animal Genetics and Reproduction Unit of SERIDA. She has been awarded a Ramón y Cajal Grant (RYC-2008-03454) and has obtained the I3 Certification (Encouragement of the Incorporation and Intensification of the Investigative Activity) on January 18, 2013.
The excellence of the research activity she is being carried out is evidenced by the significant number of publications, more than 80 peer reviewed publications (43 of them published since 2010), including two articles published in Science (1999) and an article published in Current Biology (2003). Her current h-index is 30, her i10 Index is 55 and her previous research has been cited 3792 times according to Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.es/ citations?user=MPZ0cn4AAAAJ&hl=es)
Since 2006, Dr Marta Muñoz is senior researcher in the Animal Reproduction Research Group of the Animal Genetics & Reproduction Unit. She has a vast experience using different “OMICS” technologies such as proteomics and metabolomics in translational
research in the field of Reproductive Biology. In particular, she has sought to investigate early embryo maternal interactions in the bovine uterus to improve the efficiency of the ARTs used by the livestock industry. She has been Principal investigator of 2 National Spanish Research Grants (AGL2016-78597-R, AGL2012-37772) and Senior Researcher in 8 National Spanish Research Grants and in 2 European projects (EU FP7 KBBE 2012-6, EU FP4 FMBI972856). Additionally, she has been deeply involved in teaching as Visiting Lecturer at the University of Oviedo- Master's Degree in Biology and Reproduction Technology and has tutored and guided several Master´s Thesis and 2 PhD Thesis.
In addition, Muñoz has a long-term experience with in vitro cell culture primarily with the establishment and optimization of endometrial 2D culture models for Reproductive Physio-pathological studies. Since 2017, she is working with innovative 3D in vitro tissue models. Her preliminary work has enabled to proof that synthetic scaffolds can be used as a physical support system for 3D in vitro endometrial cell culture and that the scaffold technology employed is compatible with a wide range of in vitro cell viability assays (Muñoz et al, 2018, Súarez et al., 2018, Alonso-Guervós et al; 2020).
Additionally, she has been the Spanish representative and member of the Executive Committee in the COST action CELLFIT CA 16119 (http://cost-cellfit.eu/). CellFIT is a European scientificnetwork focused on the advance of 3D cell culturing.
