A medical practitioner, with a background in sports medicine and physiology, who has been working in eHealth for over 20 years and currently Professor and Head of Dept of TeleHealth at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Founding Editor of Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth, past President of the South African Telemedicine Association, past Chair of the eHealth sub-committee of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Health Technology, Chair of the Education Committee of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth, Chair of the International SIG of the American Telemedicine Association and member of the Telemedicine Working Group of the International Medical Informatics Association. Medical educator and researcher currently involved in establishing telemedicine services in KwaZulu-Natal and setting up distance learning in healthcare in South Africa and Africa through a Fogarty International Training Grant.
