Bio
Markus Enenkel Harvard Humanitarian Initiative Cambridge, MA 02138 USA (menenkel@hsph.harvard.edu). Dr. Enenkel is a Senior Research Fellow at Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society, Columbia University (Earth Institute). He received a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, a Master of Science degree in natural resource management and ecological engineering from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and Lincoln University, Lincoln, New Zealand, in 2010, and a Ph.D. degree in geodesy and geoinformation from Vienna University, Vienna, Austria, in 2015. His research interests include the added-value of remote sensing for humanitarian decision-support and related financial instruments. In addition to applications of the Black Marble dataset, his publications cover disaster risk management and remote sensing applications in the area of climate services, tropical storms, drought, and food insecurity. He is a Reviewer and Guest Editor for different scientific journals, and a winner of the global space app challenge and the Neptune water award.
