Bio
Mark Fenton-O'Creevy is a researcher, educator and consultant with three current primary areas of interest.
1) He has a long standing interest in decision-making in contexts of uncertainy including the financial behaviour of professional traders and private citizens. He has a particular focus onthe role of emotion in decison-making and recently turned to looking at the role of emotion and narrative in strategic decision-making under radical uncertainty. He is a founding member of the Challenging Radical Uncertainty in Science, Society and the Environmment (CRUISSE )network was set up by three UK research councils in “response to a demonstrable call” for support “from business and government” and funded by EPSRC for two years from January 2017. Made up of academics and policy makers with a wide range of backgrounds in physical, mathematical, social, political and psychological science, its task was to report on the current research landscape of real-world decision-making under uncertainty and suggest a future research agenda. http://cruisse.ac.uk
2) He studies the ways in which business and management practices develop and are transformed or corrupted within businesses and organisations. Particular interests include the transfer of management practices between different national settings and the professional practices of traders in investment banks.
3) He has a profound interest in the relationship between formal and informal learning. He spent five years running a government funded centre for excellence in teaching and learning the Centre for Practice-Based Professional Learning (http://cetl.open.ac.uk).
