Bio
Rausher revolutionized how we study the evolution of species embedded in natural communities by developing theory and statistically rigorous experimental approaches enabling definitive detection and quantification of selection in nature. His work, primarily with morning glories, focuses on interactions among plants, herbivores, pathogens, and pollinators and has provided evidence for longstanding assumptions not only about resistance costs, diffuse coevolution, and adaptive constraints, but, more recently, about genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying phenotypic and genetic responses to selection. He has made major contributions to evolutionary ecology through extensive graduate training and his editorial service to the premier journals in the field.
